What can I say? I am Ga-Ga for Joanne. I’ve always been a fan of Lady Gaga and everything she represents. I feel like I am maturing with her and our music tastes compliment each other too.
This album is a little more raw, a little more country, and a little more emotional than her previous compilations. I believe this is her strongest work yet, working with some more alternative artists like Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, and producer Mark Ronson.
I love the song Joanne because I can totally relate to it at this time in my life. I just made a big career move and now I wonder where I will go from here as I begin to plan my goals for the year ahead. Then the song John Wayne is a great follow-up song that lets you let loose and go a little wild. The song Hey Girl came on with Florence Welch, and I literally “OMG” out loud as I was listening to it in the office. I almost died with excitement. Grigio Girls is just a get-down fun song and I love it – dance it up!
It has been five years since we have heard new material from Red Hot Chili Peppers, and it has been worth the wait!
Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of I’m With You, but Stadium Arcadium was one of my favorites. Until now. Their first single from their upcoming album, The Getaway, dropped today. Dark Necessities had me hooked in the first few measures. I can’t wait to hear what the rest of the album has in store.
Florence + The Machine’s third album, How Big How Beautiful How Blue, has been ringing in my ears since the day it was released. Today I received an email from Florence (of course I am a subscriber) featuring their newest music video for Queen of Peace.
A month or so ago I had seen the video for What Kind of Man and St. Jude, but it wasn’t until today that I realized the subtitle, “The Odyssey,” and chapter numbers. After the first few times I listened to the album, I kept thinking, “What’s the story behind this? What’s the meaning?” Well folks, here it is in sequential order.
Alabama Shakes premiered their first single off of their upcoming sophomore album, Sound & Color.
The video is super simplistic, yet fine-tuned and detailed along with a catchy rhythm and riff.

I’ve never been a huge fan of cover songs because I feel like a lot of artists just butcher the original and don’t do it justice, but occasionally, you find one that blows your mind and is almost better than the original!
I’ve put together a playlist of my faves that I would like to share with you and will continue to add to it as I find them, so check back every once in a while. Enjoy!
I didn’t make it to Lollapalooza for the first time in 5 years this year, but at least I was able to watch by streaming it online! YAY
I have seen Kings of Leon in concert a couple of times, so I watched Skrillex until 10 and then switched over to KOL to wrap up the fest. I was so excited that I was able to catch their encore of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own and finale of Sex On Fire. Here’s a practice sesh from Nacho!
I am highly anticipating Alt-J’s new album, This is All Yours, due in September 2014. Their premier album, An Awesome Wave, was more than that. With tracks like Tesselate, Breezeblocks and Fitzpleasure, the sound waves were incredible! Not to mention the mathematical and scientific design behind the music. Their latest leaks have new, impressive rhythms and melodies. Hear it for yourself!
